スポーツベット Summer School 2023 held

  • Education for the next generation

We held "Kajima Summer School 2023: Experience an Actual Construction Site" for about a month, starting on July 26, 2023. This event, targeted at elementary and junior high school students, began in 2017 as part of our スポーツベット アービトラージ contribution activities, and aims to offer children opportunities to see actual construction sites and experience some work, thereby boosting their interest in, and understanding of, the construction industry. After being suspended for four years since 2019 due to the spread of COVID-19, this year a total of 100 parents and children participated in Tokyo and Kanagawa and Osaka Prefectures.

In addition to construction site tours featuring a shield tunnel, expressway, high-rise building, etc., a disaster prevention-themed study tour was also provided at Kajima Technical Research Institute this year. It was organized in line with Kajima’s support for the Disaster Preparedness Collaboration Project scheme, planned by the Cabinet Office, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Great Kanto Earthquake. The tour introduced participants to anti-earthquake technologies of Kajima and gave them an opportunity to increase their disaster preparedness also in other ways, including the distribution of "Minna de Gensai (Disaster Mitigation for Everyone)" leaflet, created by the Cabinet Office.

Besides the tours, a variety of experience-oriented programs were provided at the construction sites, for example スポーツベット アービトラージ, drone, and heavy machinery operating experiences. The study tour of the Technical Research Institute was also followed by other programs, such as a technical briefing using a large-scale three-screen display, and AR technology and stereophony experiences.

We have received much feedback from children who participated in these programs like the following: "I was happy to be able to radio-operate the スポーツベット アービトラージ," "I am looking forward to trying the engineering method I have learned today when digging a tunnel in the sand,” and “I want to visit other construction sites next year." There were also many comments from parents, such as "I was impressed by the workers' teamwork," "The construction sites were neat and clean," and "I have learned that the latest safety and other technologies are being put to use."

スポーツベット will continue with its educational activities for the next generation to boost children's interest in the construction industry.
